Over the past two years G & M Family Farm has been offering training sessions & workshops for beginner beekeepers. These sessions are usually scheduled in late Spring when most of our bees are on-site, and require manipulations. We will be offering at least two introductory workshops in the Spring of 2017, there is potential for more sessions later in the season if enough interest is shown. During our courses we will be in the bee yard working with our hives, as well as giving demos and presentations in our main facility. We will show you what you need to do in order to maintain your hives, and we will inform you on the dangers you need to be aware of (rodents, bears, diseases and insects). Gerard has many years experience working with honey bee's and has been running an apiary in NL for 4 years, and 13 years out of province. Gerard will impart his years of study and experience during these workshops, along with fellow beekeepers and our consultant Entomologists who will aid in these training sessions. You can find more information about these training workshops on our Facebook Page and Events page.
Tours at G & M Family Farm will show you how and where we process honey, wax and other bee related products. While on the tour you will be shown different parts of our property; this includes our various crops, our apiary, our storage facilities, our living willow fence, and our compost yards. Inside the main facility there will be samples of our honey products, and you will be given a presentation on the amazing world of the Newfoundland honey bee. At the end of the tour there will be an opportunity for you to purchase honey, wax or any of the other products we sell.
